(I wrote this post a couple of weeks before delivering my sweet girl and never had the chance to finish it up and post, but FINALLY, here it is! I have to say having these freezer meals when we got home was SO. NICE. I didn’t have to think about meals and could just focus on recovering + my new babe. Highly, highly recommend making some things up to make a lil life easier postpartum!)
One of the ways I’ve been preparing for baby’s arrival is by cooking up a bunch of different freezer meals! I figure cooking will be the last thing I wanna be doing a bunch of after bringing her home, and makes things easier on my husband as well!
Whether you’ve also got a babe on the way or just looking for ways to make life a lil easier these days, I’m sharing a big ol list of freezer meal ideas! Some I have tried/made/have in my freezer right now and others I haven’t, but they look delicious! I tried to find and choose some pretty diverse options for this post that were simple and even easily modified to you/your fam!
I didn’t use specific recipes for anything really. However, I’m providing links to most of the things on the list for those of you who’d rather follow a recipe! For those of you who just prefer to toss a buncha things together, I left a brief description of basically what I did 🙂
(Little tip: Because truth be told, at 37 weeks preggo, I’m not trying to be cooking in my kitchen all day and cleaning up after multiple meals AND then cooking things to freeze….I tried cooking what I chose to freeze as our meals and just doubled what I was making. That way, I’m only cleaning up once, get all the cooking out of the way at once, and the portions for the freezer can be cooling while we eat!)
Breakfast
- Breakfast Burritos – I didn’t really follow a recipe for these. I pretty much just cooked up some sausage, eggs, hash browns (the shredded kind), and bell pepper. Then, I threw all of it together in a tortilla with some cheese and wrapped them up for freezing! Easy peasy and you can easily adjust them to your family’s diet! (You could get creative with this one one and even make a variety of different kinds! Use bacon instead and/or add other veggies like spinach, onion, or tomatoes.)
- Smoothie Packs – Toss your favorite smoothie ingredients into a freezer bag (without the liquid obviously!) so they’re all ready to grab and toss into the blender. (This link also has a ton of great ideas for combinations for different smoothies so you can mix it up!)
- Breakfast Sandwiches – I put bacon, egg, and cheese on bagels and that’s it. You could also use English muffins, biscuits, or croissants instead of bagels.
- Egg Cups – Think omelet but in muffin form 😉
- Waffles
- Blueberry Pancake Bites
Lunch
- Chicken Bacon Subs
- Homemade Hot Pockets – I didn’t actually make these myself, but they’re a super versatile option. Fill the insides with pizza toppings or mix it up with ham ‘n cheddar or your favorite veggies!
- Burritos (Beef & Bean or Chicken & Rice)
- Ham ‘n Cheese Pinwheels
- Bagel Pizzas
Dinner
- Taco Rice Casserole
- Lasagna (A super yummy spin on this is to use chicken and spinach instead of hamburger meat! Same cooking process, just different meat and add chopped spinach!)
- Shepherd’s Pie
- Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole
- Chicken Pot Pies
- Soup (Taco Soup, Cheesy Vegetable Chowder, Crock Pot Beef Stew)
- Crock Pot Chicken Alfredo
- Chili (Here’s a super yummy looking Vegetarian Chili)
- Homemade Frozen Pizzas
- Chicken Enchiladas
(P.S. The Dollar Tree is a great place to get freezer pans for cheap!)
