This December, I really wanted to do “Blogmas” — where I share a blog post every day for twelve days straight! I thought a little “Day in Our Life” would be a fun share and a perfect first post! So here ya go, a snippet into our lives on a very normal Monday.
And thus the day begins…
6:15 a.m. – Wakey wakey! Sawyer and Nora are early birds, and I feel like this year they’ve slowly gotten up earlier and earlier. (We went from 7:30 mornings to sometimes 5:30…) Part of me would love the extra sleep and was a big fan of 7:30, but I’ve also found I really enjoy getting up early.
We all mosey–well, I mosey, everyone else is rather energetic and chatty haha–to the kitchen for breakfast. Breakfasts around here are reallyyyyy simple and easy. Toaster waffles or pancakes (I normally big batch either of these and freeze them for the week). I pop them in the toaster for a bit and hand them to the littles and they munch happily away. (Without syrup, by the way. They enjoy them that way and it saves on mess making first thing in the morning haha) I usually cook for lunch and dinner and thoroughly enjoy not doing so for breakfast. No prep, no clean up, no dishes, etc. makes mornings a lot simpler for mama.
I also have been making French Press coffee in the mornings, so I’ll pour myself a cup and we head to their room.
6:30 a.m. – Sawyer and Nora are both excited to play in the mornings so I take advantage of this by having my “quiet time”. I plop on Nora’s bed and read my Bible and enjoy my coffee while they enjoy their toys. (This day I finished up my reading of the book of Acts and also a few chapters of The Life Giving Home by Sally Clarkson). I also take this time to jot down my To Do list for the day — chores, things I need to do for social media, any errands, etc.
7:30-8:00 a.m. – They’re usually still playing happily so I head to my room and get dressed/ready for the day and *normally* make my bed. “Today” I washed my sheets though and let my mattress air out for the day, so I didn’t make it.
Dress the littles, brush everyones teeth, put pajamas away.
8:15 a.m. — Time to get this party started, I start on chores. I clean my room, take off all of my bedding, and get our closet picked up cleaned.
9:00 – 10:45 a.m. – We get hungry early because of waking up early soo that means I’m normally prepping lunch by 9:15 and eating lunch by 10. I gave Nora and Sawyer a snack at their little table while I do this to hold them over. (Lunch today was Chicken salad sandwiches and pretzels!)
We eat lunch, I take my vitamins, and I clean the kitchen entirely right after. Dishes in the dishwasher, surfaces wiped down, food put away.
11:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. – Ran some errands that included a walmart run! Needed some staple items and also picked up some Christmas goodies! I really wanted to do a Gingerbread house with Nora this year so I picked up one of those. I also grabbed some battery powered twinkle lights for little corners around the house!
1:00-2:45 p.m. – Quiet time for everyone back at the house. Nora doesn’t really nap anymore but she still has some time alone to read books and/or do an activity for a bit. Sawyer completely knocked out haha. I took this time to do a quick tidy of the house and fold my mountain of laundry (+ watched some youtube!)
3:00 p.m. – Dinner prep usually begins just before everyone finishes their quiet time. When the littles wake up, they will either watch a show, color in the floor, or play with puzzles–we went with some episodes of Tom & Jerry!
4:00-5:30 p.m. – Dinner and Daddy gets home! While he eats and the littles finish up I tackle cleaning up the kitchen! (I have to go ahead and get it done because I can’t stand to leave it for later in the evening when I’m pooped.)
5:45-6:00 p.m. – Bath time! I sit in the bathroom with them while they splash around and utilize that time to read my book!
6:30 p.m. — Brush their teeth, pajamas, stories, and prayers then off to bed they go! (A lot of times Nora stays up a little later than this but “today” she was pretty tired.)
7-10:00 p.m. — Mama time haha. I get my shower in and then Chance and I will either watch an episode or two of a show orrr do our own separate thing (normally still in the same room.) We watched a few episodes of “The Chosen”!

(Note! We do nottt follow a schedule at all, it’s a routine/rhythm more than anything. I often find we do typically do things around the same time everyday but it’s not really intentional.) Anyway, thanks for “following us along” today. Until next time 🙂
