This past weekend I went to our local library’s book sale where you could fill bags with books for fifty cents a pound! I love browsing book sales and it was rainy outside too which really made for a cozy library day!
I found several great books that I’m pretty stoked about! Unfortunately, somehow along the way I left/forgot a stack of three or four books sitting somewhere while browsing and didn’t get to buy those (big, big sad.) I’m really disappointed about that and because the sale was only for that day I couldn’t go back and get them 🙁 But today, I’m sharing the ones that I did bring home!
Fiction books I bought
The Canadian West Series (also known as When Calls the Heart) by Janette Oke – I really enjoy Janette Oke’s books. They’re some of my favorite Christian Historical Fiction books I think. They’re light hearted, sweet, easy reads, and I always enjoy their frontier settings. I’ve watched Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart Series but have never read the books (that I’m sure are entirely different because that’s how it goes haha). So I’m looking forward to reading this series at some point.
A Bride for All Seasons by multiple authors – A bundle of novellas about four different mail order brides in the 1870 Post Mail-Order Bride Catalogue! Sounded intriguing!
Emma by Jane Austen – I’ve read part of Emma before but I can’t remember if I finished it or not. It was a while ago. The copy I found at the library sale was such a lovely edition so I just had to grab it! Not to mention I just like to grab the classics when I found them for good deals.
Mossflower by Brian Jacques – I’ve only read the “first book” in the Redwall series and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a fantasy read where mice and other creatures are the characters and I have always enjoyed Mice characters for some reason. I’ve been wanting to get more of the Redwall books for a while so this Prequel to the series was a must-get!
Victoria by Daisy Goodwin — Another buy that was inspired by a loved television series. BBC’s Victoria is so good so I thought I’d give this a go.
Non Fiction books I bought
Victoria Intimate Home Creating a Private World – This book is all about creating an inviting space and atmosphere. How women do that so well and the beauty femininity creates. It is filled with quotes from classic books on home, cozy, and the like. The pictures throughout are cottage inspired and so absolutely stunning! As I’ve been reading it and flipping through it feels so fitting to be taking in after reading The Life Giving Home by Sally Clarkson.
The Dream by Harry Bernstein – A historical memoire that sounded quite interesting!
An Old Fashioned Christmas – This book is so, so sweet. It truly is old fashioned and is made up of Christmas inspired vintage illustrations, art, sketches, and even sheet music. Oh! And a darling holiday poem beside each.
Lee’s Priceless Recipes – The loveliest little book of “3000 secrets for the home, farm, laboratory, workshop, and every department of human endeavor” — this little book is so cool!
