I absolutely cannot believe I am already in the third trimester. This pregnancy has seriously gone by so quickly. Here’s what my pregnancy with Baby #2 has looked like these past months!

How I’ve felt…
So much better than the first trimester! (Which you can read all about here!) My energy started coming back about Week 17 and it seemed as though I would get a little bit more each week. For the most part, the morning sickness has subsided, but has still shown up randomly every now and then. I suspect that it’s usually due to hormones and baby having a growth spurt.
Second Trimester symptoms have been….
Some symptoms that were different from the first trimester were sciatic pains, round ligament pain, and heart burn. The sciatic pain has probably been the most annoying and I find it really kicks in at night or when I’ve done a lot of walking. Nottt funnn.
Braxton Hicks started happening around 20 weeks. They’re not uncomfortable, but they’re definitely stronger and happen more frequently at this point!
We’re having a….
We took the Sneak Peek Gender Test at 9 weeks but kept the results to ourselves until we got it confirmed with an ultrasound. And sure enough, it was correct. We are having a Baby BOY! I grew up with sisters, so the whole boy thing will be a whole new adventure for me. But goodness gracious are we so excited about it and so look forward to meeting our precious little guy.
What I’ve craved…
I still haven’t had anything I just HAD to have, just things that constantly sound really good. Some of those things in this trimester have been cereal, French toast, Starbucks cake pops, and honestly anything sweet. I’ve had such a sweet tooth!
What I’m thinking…
Wow, just really thinking about how close we are to him being born. That this is the last trimester. I’m soaking it up as best as I can. At the same time, I’m so looking forward to wearing my clothes again, no more sciatic pain, and holding him!
He has grown so much the past few weeks and I can feel it. His kicks have grown so strong and his movements cannot be missed. Oh how I love this part of pregnancy! Feeling him moving and knowing that he is growing healthy and strong is just the best.
What I’ve done…
I’ve started using a birth ball at the end of the day to bounce on and get some stretches in. I find this helps a lot with tension, aches, and just feels so good to stretch and loosen up all of the kinks in my back/hips. I didn’t have one or use one in my pregnancy with Nora, but I wish I would have. It’s been so nice! (I’ve been using this one)
I have done a lot of reading! Mostly rereading books that I read for my first pregnancy that I loved so much. Some of my favorite books on pregnancy and preparing for birth are…
+ Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth + The Mama Natural’s Week by Week Guide to Pregnancy & Childbirth
+ Natural Hospital Birth: The Best of Both Worlds
I’ve also enjoyed reading Pinterest articles on pregnancy/labor related topics I’m interested in, and watching Birth/Labor & delivery Vlogs on youtube. A channel I’ve really enjoyed has been Built to Birth by Bridget Teyler (she also has a podcast that’s really great as well!)
A really exciting thing I did in the 2nd Tri was pulling out baby things! I went through Nora’s clothes and set aside everything we can reuse for Baby Boy, got it all washed up, folded, and organized in his dresser. When I had the energy, I also worked on decorating his little nook in our apartment, got our cloth diapers ready to go, and pulled out our tub of newborn things to see what we have/what we need. It still blows my mind that I am already pulling these things out that I feel like I was just using for Nora yesterday.
Hello Third Trimester…
That about wraps it up! I’m sure I’ll be writing the 3rd trimester update before I even know it. And by then I’ll have a little newborn assistant to help me write it all out hehe.
