I have been looking forward to sharing this post for a hot minute because it revolves all around one of my favorite things–COFFEE. After working at my favorite coffee shop as a barista, I became so inspired to add some pizzaz to my coffee at home!
My Coffee Story…
Over the past couple of years, I feel like coffee has settled itself in as a rather big part of my life in one way or another. I think it started when my Mama, two sisters, and I kind of accidentally started an every-Monday-coffee shop-girls-date (let’s be honest, more often than not it was more than just on Monday…). It was so much fun to go try new drinks and new coffee shops with my girls. So between our not-so-just-on-mondays lattes, coffee hangs with friends, and Chance and I going on coffee dates, I have some of the best memories with a cuppa Joe!
(Fun fact: My wedding reception was at a coffee shop!)
Soon after Chance and I moved to our first military base, the Lord opened the door for me to work at our favorite local coffee shop. And to be honest, besides my usual order, I didn’t know very much about coffee. But gosh, learning the art and technique behind it all was so intriguing. And getting to meet and serve the people of our small town community was a blast!
Meet Meredith!
During my time working there I met one of my dearest friends, Meredith. (Who I am so excited to be collaborating with on today’s post.) It started out that Meredith was a regular at the shop–I was grabbing a house coffee with almond milk as soon as she walked in haha. But to my delight, she eventually joined me behind bar as a barista!
I can’t tell you how much we laughed and cut up while pouring pour-overs, practicing latte art, and making the shop’s beloved homemade syrups. Coffee brought us together, but truly we connected on so many other things too. We shared a love for thrifting, for Jesus, being creative, the enneagram, and we were both military wives finding where we belonged in a new community. I’ve been so grateful that the Lord brought us into each other’s lives. And lemme just say, everyone needs a Meredith.
(Meredith is a talented creator, and incredible wife and mama! She just recently launched her small business and lifestyle blog. Go visit her over at Sincerely, ME, get her side of the story, and another awesome at home coffee recipe!)
What “Her House Coffee” is all about…
You’re gonna be surprised but, over a coffee date (betcha didn’t see that coming haha) Meredith and I came up with the idea to start a little collaborative blog series, “Her House Coffee”. We are so excited to launch this series to share how to make your favorite (and our favorite!) coffee drinks at home, syrup recipes, tips ‘n tricks we learned as baristas, and also share our hearts with you over a mutual love–coffee. Keeping things simple like a cup of your local shop’s house brew, but bringin’ it all right to your own home and hearts–all cozy like. There’s so much to come, friends, but meanwhile here’s how I make my personal favorite, an iced caramel latte!
Iced Caramel Latte RECIPE
(Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links that earn me a small commission, at no additional cost to you. However, I ONLY recommend products I personally love and/or use myself!)
+ For this drink, I use a double shot of espresso. I use my Nespresso machine for this and these medium roast Nespresso pods, however you can still make a similar drink using your favorite strongly brewed coffee!
+ 2 tbsp of Homemade Caramel Coffee Syrup. (You might adjust this measurement depending on the type of syrup you use and how sweet you prefer your drink! Here is a link to a caramel syrup if you don’t have any made up!) Combine with your coffee/espresso and stir.
+ Add a handful of ice
+ Top it off with your milk of choice (I typically use whole milk)
+ Stir and enjoy!
