Perhaps you and your sweetheart have run out of date night ideas, are bored of the ones you have, or just wanna do something fun together without spending tons of money. I know my hubby, Chance, and I are always looking for fun things we can do together that don’t cost a fortune. Neither of us like to spend tons of money, and when we find something that’s a lot of fun, but costs little to nothing, we’re thrilled! So if you’re anything like us, you may just enjoy these free or inexpensive date night ideas bunches!

1.) Picnic! (So many ways to spice this one up!)
Ain’t nothin’ like an old fashioned picnic. And thing about them is, you can do them just about anywhere and however you want! Spend an early afternoon preparing food together for it, or swing by your favorite take out spot and listen to “your songs” during the drive there! Picnic in a park, or by a pretty lake/pond. Homebody like we are? Heck the backyard works just fine. But, hey! So does the living room! Watch a good movie together while chowing down, or just talk. Dress up, or don’t! Surprise your sweetie or don’t! You can get really creative with this one. The possibilities with this are endless!
2.) Bible Study Outing
Grab your Bibles and head on over to your favorite coffee shop or ice cream parlor. Sip on some lattes (latte for me, frappe for Chance…but whatever you ‘n honey’s favorites are!) and do Bible Study together! We’ve really had fun every time we’ve done this. Chance and I love reading and discussing God’s Word in the warm, quiet atmosphere. Especially if it’s a rainy day. (We both love rain!)
3.) Go for a walk
In your neighborhood, around a park, a local trail. Simply just go for a walk together. One of Chance and I’s favorite things to do together during this is just to have a really good conversation with one another. Whether that be on a theological topic (that’s our favorite!), a hobby, a goal, what’s going on in our spiritual lives, JUST WHATEVER. Talk. Connect. (That’s what a date night is all about!)
4.) Movie & Dinner (At home!)
Pop a movie in from your collection of favorites (or Redbox! Netflix! Amazon Prime! Or borrow from a friend!) Make dinner together! Or a bunch of the finger foods you’ve yet to try from your Pinterest board. If you’re willing to spend a little, maybe buy your favorite junk food or candy. Pop some popcorn, grab a big fluffy blanket, and cozy on up!
5.)Â Go hiking
We live right beside a state park so hiking has made for some fun Together Time! A lot of time we’ll take sandwiches or snacks (like these CHOMPS–No GMO, 100% grass fed, Whole30 approved beef/venison snack sticks!). We love to stop and chow down while enjoying the scenery, each other, and the peacefulness of nature. (Are you seeing a pattern of food?…we like food.)
6.) Split an appetizer or dessert (or both)!
Instead of buying two meals, just enjoy each other’s company and munch a little by splitting an appetizer at your favorite place to eat. Or split a fancy dessert you normally wouldn’t splurge on. If you’re feeling a lil “spendy” get both! (It doesnt have to be a fancy dessert! Milkshakes, donuts, and ice cream, and froyo all make an awesome date night if ya ask us!)
7.) Go bike riding!
This one is lots of fun! However, if you don’t have bikes, then of course this will cost to buy or rent. (Maybe borrow some from friends?) But there’s some affordable bikes out there (Thrift stores, pawn shops…), and once you buy them they’re yours and you two can go bike riding together as often as you please! Head out on a trail, in the city, around a cute local town, at the park, in the good ol’ countryside, or in your own neighborhood! And let’s not forget the exercise as a bonus haha. (Burn off those calories you ate sharing that dessert AND appetizer, ya chubby love birds!!)
Regardless of what you do, take in the moment. Don’t just go through the motions. Enjoy each other to the fullest. Tell them something you’re proud of them for, admire them for, look up to them for. Encourage each other. Lift the other up. Refresh and enjoy. Remember that it isn’t about the actual date or activity, but the two of you, your hearts, and your love for one another. Don’t ever take your sweet time together for granted 🙂
