So I’ve found that my love for plants is seriously growing. (Ya see it…ya see what I did there? Really “growing”?! Haha riiight…) Anyway. I’ve really developed a new found obsession with them, and I just want to grow all the things. Unfortunately, however, I can’t in reality grow all the things. I don’t have enough space, enough “skill” (haha my sister says that I “kill nature” #sadbuttrue), or enough money to buy all the growing things. But I have splurged a time…or twelve…and snagged myself a lil’ leafy lovely.
Chance (the hubs) knows how much I like and enjoy plants, and has come home from work a few times grinning from ear to ear as he hands me yet another. Which I, of course, take from him with an even bigger grin because that’s what all good crazy plant ladies do. Right? Right. And, ya know, I may or may not suppress the urge to say “my precious” in the voice of Smeagol (from Lord of The Rings) as I carry it off to pot it. Just sayin’.
Between me buying, receiving, and doing a little propagating, I have a steadily growing collection of all kinds of different plants. And get this, some of them even have names thanks to Chance (who thoroughly enjoys naming them). And without further ado, heeeere they are!
Say hi to my newest addition, my lavender plant. It smells so. good. I had to run some errands after I bought it, and by the time I got home, the entire vehicle smelled like sweet lavender. Super excited about this one.
Haha, so some of the succulents around our home are doing absolutely awesome, and then there’s the ones that aren’t so lovely. The top two succulents of the second picture were actually on clearance at Lowe’s for less than $1 each because they were imperfect and dying! So I grabbed them and somehow was able to revive them?? Despite that I killed all of the ones I had before them…I’m not complaining. (Watch, they’ll all die just because I posted that they’re doing so good for where they were at) Gosh though, I feel like they’re such finicky plants, but I’m determined to find the trick to keeping them alive!
Garlic! So I decided to try to grow some garlic by taking a few garlic cloves, placing them in a jar of water until they grew roots. And it worked! I’ve since planted them in a big tin bucket and they are a little bit taller every day. It takes a long time for them to actually develop into a mature garlic bulb, but it’s been really fun to watch the process and watch them get so tall! (Plant Mama Moment #1: When you realize your babies are really growing up and that somehow you have managed to keep them alive for this long)
Tomatoes! I love eating them so much, and the fresh ones are so much better than store-bought. Though I think its safe to say that goes for any fruit or veggie. My mom grew tomatoes when we were little a couple of summers in a row and they were always the best! They’re also really easy plants, and it’s really fun to watch their little buds go from flowers to a big red tomato!
So Chance named this little guy Wilson. He’s an air plant! Probably the easiest thing ever too. He doesn’t need soil. Doesn’t need sand. Doesn’t need anything really but a spritz of water now and then. You put them wherever you want, however you want. I really want to get more to put inside his little terrarium! Though he’s gotten so much bigger since I bought him that I don’t know if I’ll have any room. Hmm…may have to just buy another one…and more air plants…more plants. Yes.
Introducing “Gregory and Stanley” as Chance calls them. Gregory is the tall one, Stanley is the shorty. I’m loving how easy cacti are. They pretty much just like to be left alone with a bit of water here and there but that’s it. Chance brought both of these home to me. Day was made twice, ya’ll.
Here is my propagated Devil’s Ivy plant, also called a pathos plant. My mom has several of these growing and they are all so pretty and such easy keepers! No specific kind of water, sunlight, soil, nothin’. They can literally do perfectly fine by just sticking them in a cup of water. I recently propagated the top one from one of her plants (shown on the bottom).
One of my favorites is definitely my “Creeping Jenny”! If all goes well and I don’t kill it, it will grow longer and fuller, similar to a fern but not quite as full. Look at those bright green leaves! It really is such a bright plant. I love it!
And that, my dear friends, is my menagerie of plants. Seriously trying my darnedest not to kill ’em haha. They’re fun. Feel free to comment below and tell me about what you’ve got growin’ or if you’re growing any of the same!
(P.S. My shirt is from this cute shop! Go check her out, ya’ll, she has the cutest apparel!)

Nice job 🙂 I love growing things too, and luckily my landlord doesn’t care what I plant outside around the property!
