It’s Fall ya’ll! And that means fall flavors for our beloved coffees. The Pumpkin Spice Latte (iced or hot!) is my favorite fall coffee drink, but I’m actually very picky about it. I’ve tried several “PSL’s” from local shops and for some reason I always feel like their syrup is missing something or has too much of something. I’ve just never had a Pumpkin Spice flavored coffee that I was impressed with. And being honest, Starbucks really is the only place I truly love my PSL.
This Autumn, I really wanted to be able to make pumpkin spice lattes that I loved right at home. I have tried some recipes in the past, but once again, they were always missing something. So this time, I decided to start from scratch and just create my very own. This does mean that this recipe is purely to my personal taste of all that a Pumpkin Spice Latte should be. Pumpkin-y and sweet with just the right amount of spice.
I did have my sisters taste test with their honest opinions and also made a second batch to make sure it really was the one. The conclusion: ITS DA ONE. At least for me (and my sisters agreed hehe). I’ve really looked forward to sharing it with you, and I hope that you love it and enjoy it just as much as I have!
(You can absolutely add more or less of any of the spices to fit your preference! I taste as I go and sometimes add a dash more of this or that. I have even added a splash of Cardamom coffee syrup to this recipe and it was a delicious addition! As for how much to add to your coffee, it depends on how sweet/flavorful you’d like your drink to turn out.)
Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup Pumpkin Puree
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups Water
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 pinch of Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla
Instructions
- Combine all of ingredients except for Vanilla together in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Turn down to medium heat, and stir occasionally to prevent syrup from burning.
- Allow mixture to cook together for about 10 or minutes. When ready, you'll find that all the ingredients have thoroughly combined, consistency is syrupy enough to coat a spoon. Remove from heat.
- Once removed from heat, add your vanilla. Stir in.
- That's it! The amount of syrup you add to your coffee will be to your own taste/preference. You'll have to determine whether you prefer more or less sweetness/flavor! Adjust the amount you add to your coffee accordingly. Enjoy 🙂
