Doing a little something fun today–a book tag. And not just any old book tag, but a Christmas book tag!
This is such a fun and festive little tag and I have enjoyed seeing what other people’s answers are, their favorite reads from the past year, or of all time! If you have a blog, instagram, youtube, etc. you should totally do this one–I tag ya 😉
Here we go! (Oh! And I did try really hard not to repeat answers, but. Yeahhh……)
1. A Partridge in a pear tree: Favorite Stand-Alone Book?
I don’t feel like I have an all time favorite book to be honest. Which I kind of hate. There’s not many things that I have an absolute favorite of because I’m too terribly indecisive. It lowkey stresses me out to feel like I have to have a favorite of something haha. I know that’s so weird, but. All of that to say, I decided the decision would be easier to pick my favorite book that I read in 2022! Which would be….
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys (honestly–her book Salt to the Sea was my top fave, but I’m using that as the answer for a later question, so I went with my 2nd favorite for this one whoops haha) (OKAY SEE HOW I CAN’T JUST HAVE A FAVORITE?)
You can read my thoughts/review of Between Shades of Gray here and my thoughts/review of Salt to the Sea here
2. Two Turtle Doves: Fictional OTP/Favorite Ship?
Anne & Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables!
3.Three French Hens: Favorite Trilogy?
I’ve not read many trilogies. Most of the series I have read all have more than three books so. I think the only real trilogy (and also one of my favorite series in general) would be the If I Run series by Terri Blackstock!
I literally finished the first book in a day. The second book was marvelous and the third book I could not put down either. SO good.
4. Four Calling Birds: Favorite Fictional Beast/Creature?
I haven’t read many fantasy/sci-fi things honestly. And what I have didn’t really have any “creatures/beasts”. But I loved The Phantom Tollbooth growing up so maybe Tock the Watch Dog??
5. Five Golden Rings: Show 5 Golden Books
I didn’t have many choices on my shelf for this one. My picks are either yellow or have gold details on the cover. And those books areee
Ross Poldark by Winston Graham
Dust by Kara Swanson
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
6. Six Geese a Laying: Rotten egg- What’s your least favorite book?
At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. It was really boring to be honest. I had expected it to be a heartwarming, cozy town read. And in some ways it was cozy, but mostly just too slow for me.
7. Seven Swans a Swimming: Show a Book with Water on the Cover :
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. One of my top favorites this year! (Inserting an image because my copy is being borrowed!)
8. Eight Maids a Milking: What fictional food do you wish you could taste?
Marilla’s Plum Pudding from Anne of Green Gables (the recipe that Miss Stacey almost took a bite out of but couldn’t–if you know, you know)
9. Nine Ladies Dancing: Favorite dance between two characters?
Darcy & Elisabeth from Pride & Prejudice!
10. Ten Lords a Leaping: Favorite Book-To-Movie-Adaptation?
I have so many that I think made wonderful movies. Like I’m tempted to say Little Women. But I think the movie that actually outdid the book for once was Sarah Plain & Tall! It’s absolutely wonderful and one of my all time favorite movies.
11. Eleven Pipers Piping: Favorite Book-To-Movie-Adaptation Soundtrack?
The Pride & Prejudice 2005 soundtrack!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12. Twelve Drummers Drumming: It’s the end of the song; what’s your favorite book ending?
From my 2022 reads that’s kind of hard. Because most of what I read either had a bittersweet ending, or I wasn’t completely satisfied with the ending, or it was a part of a series and didn’t exactly end. But two books I felt satisfied by the endings of were Dear Mrs Bird by A.J. Pearce or If I Live (the last book in the If I Run series) by Terri Blackstock
